▼ 🧰 What It Does
Provides a secure, controlled way to pull Amsteel strands through long buries, reducing hand fatigue and improving splice consistency compared to improvised tools or bare-hand pulling.
▼ 🔧 How It’s Used
Used during Amsteel splicing to pull strands through buries when making continuous loops, whoopie slings, soft shackles, dog bones, and structural ridgelines. The latch closes over the strand to maintain control while pulling through the rope.
▼ ✅ Compatibility
• Designed specifically for 7/64" Amsteel • Works with common hammock and light marine splicing applications • Not recommended for larger-diameter rope due to latch size
▼ 📐 Tech Notes
• Length: 10.5 inches each • Quantity: Sold as a pair (2 latch hooks) • Optimized for: 7/64" Amsteel Blue • Smooth latch tip helps prevent fiber snagging during buries • Ideal for long buries and internal pulls
▼ ✅ What’s Included
- ✔️ Two Latch Hooks (sold as a pair)
- ✔️ 10.5" overall length for easy reach through Amsteel
- ✔️ Designed specifically for 7/64" Amsteel splicing
▼ 🔥 Why You’ll Love It
- Built for Amsteel – Sized perfectly for 7/64" Amsteel, making clean buries easier and more consistent.
- Latch Tip Control – The latch hook securely grabs strands without slipping or snagging fibers.
- Extra Reach – 10.5" length allows you to pull tag ends through long buries with less frustration.
- Smoother Splicing – Reduces hand fatigue and speeds up repeat splices.
- Workshop or Trail Ready – Durable enough for shop use, compact enough for field repairs.
Simple Tools Make Better Splices
When you’re working with 7/64" Amsteel, the right tool makes all the difference. These Latch Hooks are designed to simplify the most frustrating part of splicing—pulling strands cleanly through long buries without snagging or fighting the rope.
At 10.5 inches long, each hook provides plenty of reach to pass through continuous loops, whoopie slings, dog bones, and soft shackles with ease. The latch tip securely captures the Amsteel strand and closes smoothly, helping prevent fiber damage and accidental slips mid-pull.
Designed for Consistency and Control
Whether you're splicing occasionally or producing gear in batches, these latch hooks help maintain consistent results. They’re especially useful when working deep inside a bury where fingers or improvised tools fall short.
- Length: 10.5 inches
- Compatibility: Optimized for 7/64" Amsteel
- Quantity: Sold as a pair
- Use Cases: Continuous loops, whoopie slings, soft shackles, dog bones, structural ridgelines
If you splice Amsteel regularly, these latch hooks are a small upgrade that saves time, reduces frustration, and helps you produce cleaner, more reliable gear.

TEMPERATURE
High and low temperatures can influence rope performance in a variety
of ways. Ambient temperature conditions should be well understood
and within the limits outlined in Table 2. Generally speaking, extremely
cold temperatures commonly will not have a negative impact on rope
performance. However, moisture and subsequent freezing will impact a
rope’s handling and flexibility, but with no known negative long-term impact
on rope life. High temperatures can reduce a rope’s strength and fatigue
resistance. If temperatures exceed the limits shown in Table 2, special care
should be taken to ensure the product is fit-for-purpose.
